Since 1911, the heart of Chevrolet and the spirit of American ingenuity have been producing cars that combine rugged capability, everyday reliability, and iconic style. The Chevrolet story begins with a Swiss race car driver named Louis Chevrolet and the man who started General Motors, William C. Durant, who set out to build a better car than Henry Ford's Model T, which was dominating the automotive landscape at the time, and the first Chevrolet Classic Six (1913) laid the groundwork, eventually giving way to the affordable Chevrolet 490 (1915), which captured America's heart and began a legacy of democratizing mobility that continues to this day.
1920s–40s: The Superior Series was the 1920s belle of the ball, and the Suburban Carryall (1935) became the world's first SUV. WWII converted production to tanks and aircraft engines, demonstrating Chevy's flexibility.
1950s–1960s: The Bel Air (1950) epitomized the chrome-clad style of the "Tri-Five" era, and the Corvette (1953) sparked America's interest in sports cars. Muscle car legends were born (the Camaro [1966] and Chevelle SS [1964]).
1970s–1990s: In response to the oil crisis, the subcompact Chevette (1975) and S-10 pickup (1982) balanced efficiency with utility. Full-size SUVs and trucks were reconfigured with the Tahoe (1995) and Silverado (1999).
2000s–Today: Chevrolet pioneers innovation with hybrids (Volt, 2010), the electric Bolt EV (2016), and the Silverado EV (2024). Ford: Traditional front drivers turn heads, but not all are hidden gems. The Corvette Stingray (2020) and
Camaro ZL1 carries on in performance.
Work & PlChevy's lineup takes on every workload, from the work-ready Silverado HD to the family-friendly Travload.
Cultural Legacy: Corvette's racing heritage, Camaro's Hollywood glitz, and the Suburban's over 85 years of production.
Innovation: Super Cruise™ hands-free tech, eCrate electric builds, ZR2 off-road options.
